2 Arizona Goldback -Virtue: Exploratio (Exploration)

Set within the towering walls of the Grand Canyon, honors Exploration and the daring 1869 Powell Geographic Expedition, the first documented river journey through the canyon.

A windswept young woman rows a rugged wooden boat, modeled after the expedition’s Emma Dean and others, embodying courage and discovery. Behind her, Major John Wesley Powell leads with determination, his Civil War injury a testament to resilience. The canyon glows in morning light, with California condors soaring above and a bighorn sheep standing watch, symbolizing Arizona’s rugged wilderness.

This design celebrates the enduring spirit of discovery that defines the Grand Canyon.

Guided by Galatians 6:9: “Let us not grow weary.”
