The 1/4 Florida Goldback Alpha depicts Pax, the Roman virtue of peace, beneath the clear waters of Florida’s renowned Molasses Reef. Pax represents a flourishing society, which is reflected by the abundance of marine life surrounding her. In one hand she holds a branch of seaweed as symbol of reconciliation; in the other, she holds a trident, representing stewardship of the sea. Her flowing drapery echoes the effortless nature of true peace.

The surrounding details each represent elements of a peaceful ecosystem. The French Angelfish symbolize vitality and diversity, while the coral represents thriving natural beauty. The ultraviolet artwork reveals drifting jellyfish, which are a tribute to tranquility and patience. At Pax’s feet, an anchor symbolizes stability and security through life’s storms. Above, sunbeams filter through Florida’s clear waters to reflect optimism and clarity.
